In 2011, a consortium of interfaith congregations from the greater Capitol Hill area began working to address the need of offering sanctuary for women who are homeless in this community.  Churches have joined together to offer safe shelter to twenty homeless women every night of the year.  South Broadway participates in this ministry by preparing, serving, and sharing in a meal with those sleeping overnight two Thursdays a month.  South Broadway partners with Corona Presbyterian in this ministry.  Volunteers are always needed.  Contact the church office if interested, 303-722-4679.

All church members and friends who want to know more about how South Broadway has become a part of the Women's Homeless Initiative and who possibly will want to help in the future, are encouraged to attend the WHI Training Class. Classes are held about four times a year.

We learned WHI history and rules, and all about our available jobs: Learn how to set up our sleeping and eating room(s), Welcome our 20 guests, Feed them and the volunteer help, Monitor overnight, Make the breakfast bags that guests take with them, and Clean up before 7:30 in the morning.  You could help with any of these that fit your schedule or desire.  We want everyone to be a part of this life-saving, life-enhancing ministry right here in our own church's lower level, that wishes to do so.
